Java Bites Espresso Cookies
WHITE CHOCOLATE VANILLA LATTE COOKIES took home first
place
for BEST ALL NATURAL/ORGANIC
PRODUCT. Their CINNAMON CAPPUCCINO COOKIES
won
second place for BEST
DESSERT. And their new 5.25 oz COFFEE-CUP-SHAPED WINDOW
BOX took
home the second place award
for BEST PACKAGING.
We were truly honored to
have done so well, especially as first-time
contestants, said Leslie
Estes, president of The
Artisan Cookie Company. Her husband, and co-founder,
David Estes, added
we feel very honored -
especially with the best packaging award, which we
worked very hard on
this past year. People love
our new coffee-cup shaped boxes. Once we had the taste
nailed, we
turned our attention on the
packaging - and it was exciting to win awards for
both!
Java Bites Espresso Cookies
are the only product the company manufacturers - turning
out up to
18,000 cookies per day from
their Loveland, Colorado factory. The cookies have been
such a
success that this year the
company had to relocate the cookie factory to a larger
facility to handle
the demand. As a result, they
were able to put in some much-needed packaging equipment
which
allowed for the redesign in
the packaging.
Leslie Estes explained the
unique method used in making Java Bites Espresso
Cookies, who is the
only manufacturer to use this
special process. The all-natural recipes were 15 months
in
development - the longest
Leslie has spent on any recipe since her baking career
began in 1984. It
starts with coarsely ground
espresso beans which are added to a very wet cookie
dough. Then the
cookies are slowly baked in a
process that allows the espresso beans to brew into
each cookie.
The end result is a cookie
that actually tastes like it has been dipped into a
fresh latte, cappuccino,
or shot of
espresso.
